Emilie Heurtevent is a Melbourne-based abstract artist who loves to work with black and white acrylic painting, ink and textures. Emilie grew up in Paris where she was surrounded by museums and a constant turnover of exhibitions. She learned and practiced multiple drawing techniques as well as watercolours and Chinese calligraphy before experimenting with abstracts.
Her studio and home are located in Brunswick, Victoria. She shares her life with her partner Lucas and Geraldine the cat, both fantastic Art critics.
Cycles of decay and renewal – change, growth and personal perception are Emilie’s recurring subjects. Like in Nature, I believe changes are necessary, serving as an invitation to savour this precious life and a way to experience a sense of growth and purpose. My intent is to make art that highlights these cycles of decay and renewal, and questions what lies beyond our sight. Ultimately, my purpose is to help you embrace this imperfect world and bring you serenity.
