Frances Kevans

Based in Middle Cove Sydney, Frances has been painting for 25 years. Her artistic journey started with accurate drawing of still lifes and bush scenes and proceeded to life drawing, portraiture and landscapes using a variety of materials and techniques. She was guided by teachers at The Royal Art Society of NSW, TAFE NSW, Willoughby Arts Centre and Mitchell School of Arts in Bathurst.

Her style now is semi-abstract to abstract using heavy water colour paper with acrylics, oil pastel, chalk pastel and artist’s ink. Though she may use travel photos as inspiration, she does not start with a rigid plan. Risky but exciting. Each work has many layers using a variety of materials to create depth and intrigue.
