Mardi Cavana

Mardi is a digital designer and abstract artist based in Sydney. After 20 years in the design industry she’s refocusing on her passion for art and swapping pixels for paint brushes.
Having lived in Sydney’s Inner West for over 15 years, Mardi’s art reflects the beauty of imperfection that she sees in her daily wanderings – cracked walls, rusty house numbers, textured walls and ripped posters. She sees this as ‘magic in the mundane’ and loves taking these elements and portraying them in unexpected and beautiful colours. 
Mardi likes to work directly onto the canvas, with little more in mind than a colour palette. This allows her to truly embrace the freedom of abstraction and let her intuition steer the work. Her works often feature typographical elements, a nod to her years as a designer and a key point of interest in her works that draws people in and starts conversations.
