Margaret Taylor

I spent my working life in the business world although my interest and love of art goes back to my school days. I have been painting in my head for as long as I can remember and now free to actually paint, the influences from a childhood spent roaming through the Australian bush and now living on Sydney Harbour are evident.

The light and colours of the Australian landscapes inspire most of my work. I am interested in capturing the feel of a place drawn from my response and memory, rather than a direct representation. I am striving for a painterly form of abstraction and feel my best work comes from memory when the work develops naturally, is spontaneous and all the elements somehow come together.
