REK

REK is an established artist working from his studio in Brisbane, he is best known as a realistic avian specialist painter.
His popular artworks are driven by fine details. The process of exacting the photo realistic results he produces today, is a skill which has taken many years of focused study and practice to refine. REK often fuses his key subjects with his love of fine patterns and other design elements, layering the soft details of his avian creations over the top of contrasting backgrounds which he reworks and obscures, challenging the viewer to look beyond the main image and discover the hidden depth beneath.

Though he does approach other subject matters, nothing has held his attention more tightly than the world of birds. Captivated by the freedom they represent as well as their ethereal beauty.
Striving to achieve ever more perfect results has seen REK Collaborating with multiple professional nature photographers from Australia and abroad – always seeking out only the best reference material to work from

REK Studied at the Brisbane Institute of Art and has exhibited consistently in solo and group exhibitions in Brisbane, Melbourne and the Gold Coast since emerging in the early 2000’s.

His artwork has been commissioned for children’s books, appeared on Chanel 10’s Healthy Homes Australia and has been a finalist in many competitive art prizes including The Brisbane Rotary Art Prize, Queensland Figurative, the Art Lovers Australia Art Prize and the Lethbridge 20,000.
