They say it is a combination of three things that make us who we are, our Upbringing, life experience and genetics. Well I could not escape any of those forces as I quickly developed a love for creating things as a little girl.

It really all started with my Grandfather, a talented landscape artist. The smell of oil, turps and the old furniture of his studio blended together and seared into my memory. He and Nanna both painted. Then my Mum and sister also took up the practice. So I was never far from a canvas.

I just loved painting with my Mum and after she passed away at age 46 it was a long time before I picked up a brush again. To say the least it has been an emotional journey to end up where I am now as a full-time artist.

I paint in an impressionistic style mostly with Oil but Acrylic too, and I feel I am most in the zone when the strokes are loose and uninhibited, I do not like to overwork a piece. Some of my paintings are created solely with a Palette knife, some with brushes and others a blend of the two. Sometimes the scene dictates these choices other times it is just a mood thing.

I draw a lot of inspiration from the Australian Landscape, especially the Gold Coast Hinterland where I live, and Northern New South Wales where I was born and spent much of my 20s and early 30s. The unique beauty and diversity of this land is truly captivating and has provided endless fuel for my creativity. The land seems to connect with people in a profound way and if I can evoke a feeling, mood or even a memory with my work I am a very happy, yes, a contented artist.
