Vivienne Vanderspuy was born in Pakistan in 1942. Her parents immigrated to South Africa when she was five. Finishing school she studied singing in Paris. After which she started a Fine Art degree at Cape Town University. Marrying a geologist she and her family spent time in Australia and North America. Whilst living in Canada she started working with collage, her work was exhibited in the Ontario Craft Council gallery and other galleries in Toronto. Leaving Canada in 1979 she came to live in Sydney, where she continued to work with collage mainly using flowers and plants. This in turn led to seven years of working with flowers in her two flower shops in Northbridge and North Sydney. In 1994 She joined Lerida Harrison as co- curator of Season’s Gallery in North Sydney. Turning 70 in 2012 she joined a painting class at the Willoughby Art Centre where she was inspired by Tony Tozer to work in the realm of Abstract Art. She works with acrylics, ink and collage on canvas.
