Leree was born in Sydney but now resides on a 100 acre farm in the Byron Bay Hinterland Though her formal tertiary qualifications are in History and Politics she has been studying and practicing artistic techniques all her adult life
Leree is inspired by the lush tropical northern rivers in and the native bushland and garden that surrounds her studio. The colours and tones in her paintings reflect the changing seasons and the flowers that are blooming.
Leree works to capture and magnify the beauty of flowers and note the subtle differences in foliage. Using a palette knife and oil paint she has the freedom to work alla-prima
By applying the paint thickly it allows her to denote expression and gesture giving movement and life into her canvases.
