Marilou Palazon

Flowers and birds- endless shapes and ethereal forms of beauty, inspiration and wonder.
Marilou Palazon relishes the simplicity of the monumental and sweeping image.
By using illogical large scale of otherwise delicate and small subjects helps create a sense of awe.
Palazon likes her viewer to fall into her images and travel along the surface of her paintings. Her flowers and birds become more iconic, monolithic and archetypal symbols.
She rejoices in these transhistorical and ancient subjects. Historically flowers are emotionally and symbolically rich with content. The combinations of both flower and bird forms are mesmerising with their lush natural colour palettes.
Flowers in particular represent the cycle and struggle of time, the dichotomy of perfection and slow decline. One cannot exist and be appreciated without the other.
There is great beauty in all these phases Life as journey and respect for all stages of nature.
Her love of the Renaissance, Vermeer, Rothko is really her passion of colour and luminosity. Light and colour become an intrinsic part of the subject being portrayed.
Palazon's pursuit of the beautiful, of potent imagery is really the search for something higher- to be enlightened and energised. Beauty for beauty's sake.
Man through the ages, has been fascinated by flowers. Fragile and stunning, with often no other utilitarian value other than to exist. A flower just blooms - to her that is always hope for a tomorrow, a future. Fascinating that such a small organic form holds so much power to provoke and inspire.
