KARIN CUTLER ART

Artist Biography

Mixed media painter

Senses of the real and the abstracted … inspiring both still life explorations of light and form and more abstracted works, Karin aims to express the essence rather than the actual.

Working predominantly with acrylics, Karin loves to add other mediums including charcoal, graphite, pastels and ink. Influenced by her Scandinavian heritage drawing her towards a calming, neutral and earthy palette, she uses subtle layering, tone and texture to achieve a sense of movement and interest. Although she paints with a lot of energy she likes to evoke a sense of calm in the final output. She is inspired by the beach and rural landscape, often photographing driftwood, water, rocks, sand, bark and flora on her daily walks.

Karin’s passion for drawing and painting responds to a strong pull within her for creative direction. During the past decade she has completed numerous art courses exploring various mediums and techniques and now works as a full-time artist. Earlier, Karin studied Fashion and Textile Design at Sydney College of the Arts and Marketing at University of Canberra. She lives in Sydney with her husband Rob and children Annabel and Daniel.
